Francis T. Marchese received his BS in Natural Science from Niagara University, MS in Chemistry from Youngstown State University, and PhD in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. Professor of Computer Science at Pace University, his research spans visual computing, conservation of digital art, and the history of medieval information and knowledge visualization. He is founder and co-director of the Pace Digital Gallery, an internationally recognized venue for digital and new media art, where he has curated numerous exhibitions, and an associate editor of the ACM Journal on Computers and Cultural Heritage (JOCCH). Most recently he has organized and chaired the Pace Digital Gallery symposium “Digital Art and the Urban Environment: Engaging Urban Ecology through Digital Art and New Media,” and an art exhibition with the same name. His most recent edited volume is “Knowledge Visualization Currents: From Text to Art to Culture (2013, Springer-Verlag).
