Marco de Niet is the Director of Digitaal Erfgoed Nederland (DEN foundation), the Dutch knowledge centre for digital heritage. DEN is a government funded organisation to promote standardisation and monitor the progress of the national digital infrastructure for cultural heritage. Marco is actively involved in various European projects, such as Europeana, ENUMERATE, Europeana Inside, meSch and V-Must.net Marco studied Dutch language and literature and History of the book at Leiden University. Before DEN, he worked at the R&D department of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, the National Library of the Netherlands. He is a founder member of The European Library service. His main interests are standardisation, digital preservation, business model innovation and accountability and statistics.
