Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge (MSRC), setting research directions for the Integrated Systems Group, focussing on new paradigms for digital content management and analysis, communication, and social interaction. That resulted in over 20 prototype systems and applications that enabled research explorations and led to more than 70 conference papers, journal publications, book chapters, and technical reports that Natasa co-authored, 5 granted patents, and public releases of NodeXL and Research Desktop―Project Colletta adopted by a broader research community.

Prior to joining Microsoft Research in 1998, Natasa worked at the Claritech Corporation, a spin-off from Carnegie-Mellon University that was acquired by the Justsystem Corporation of Japan in 1996. There she served as Director of Research. From 1989 until 1993 Natasa taught mathematics and computer science at the Seton Hill College in the USA and served as the Chair Person of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department.
